URGENT >> BULLETIN >> MOVING: In yet another disturbing attack against the law-enforcement community, the sheriff of West Virginia’s Mingo County has been shot and killed near the Mingo County Courthouse, multiple media outlets are reporting.

A suspect is in custody in the shooting death of newly elected Sheriff Eugene Crum, the Charleston Daily Mail is reporting.

The suspect fled the scene and crashed during the pursuit near Hell Creek. He was shot during an exchange of gunfire with a Mingo County deputy and was apprehended.

Sheriff Crum has served as sheriff of Mingo County since January. He had previously served as a magistrate . . .  and with the Delbarton Police Department. He is survived by his children and grandchildren.

  1. While this is a reprehensible event, those like the killer forget that while you can kill a man, you cannot kill an idea/concept.
