  • DEVELOPING STORY: Ghastly Campaign On Facebook To Intimidate TelexFree Prosecutor In Brazil May Be Under Way

ponzinews1Facts are sketchy, but there are disturbing reports in Brazilian media today that someone with a Facebook account used it to claim falsely that a prosecutor involved in the TelexFree pyramid-scheme probe had been murdered. The bogus report was supplemented by photos of a mutilated body purported to be that of the prosecutor.

Investigators in Brazil are treating the matter as an effort to intimidate the prosecutor, according to media accounts in Portuguese.

TelexFree has been under investigation in Brazil since at least June. There have been reports of death threats directed at a prosecutor and a judge.

But apparent efforts to menace officers of the court are only one symptom of the disconnect that accompanies TelexFree, an MLM “program” that some U.S. affiliates say triples or quadruples money in a year.

The PP Blog has observed recent instances in which apparent TelexFree members hoping to gain recruits spammed Comments threads below stories in Brazilian media that reported on the suicide deaths of two TelexFree members in the country.

New TelexFree registrations are blocked in Brazil. Certain TelexFree assets have been frozen. Pitchfests, though, continue in other countries. Some promos have encouraged Brazilians to pose as residents of the United Kingdom to evade the limitations imposed in Brazil and sign up for the “program.”

TerraMagazine possibly was the first outlet to report the disturbing news about the false reports about the murder of a prosecutor. There’s also a report on cbnfoz.com.br. (See Google Translation from Portuguese to English.)

  • BULLETIN: Tom Clements, Colorado’s Top Prison Official, Reportedly Shot And Killed At His Home On Eve Of Final Passage Of Gun-Control Legislation

Tom Clements, Colorado’s top prison official, reportedly was shot and killed last night while answering the door at his home in Monument, El Paso County.

Motives surrounding the shooting are unclear. There are early reports that security for other Colorado officials has been tightened.

Gov. John Hickenlooper has ordered flags be lowered to half-staff all public buildings statewide.

Hickenlooper is scheduled to sign gun-control legislation into law in Colorado today after a mass-shooting at a movie theater in Aurora last year.

The governor used Facebook this morning to address Department of Corrections employees about the shooting death of Clements.

“I can hardly believe it, let alone write words to describe it,” the governor said.

Hickenlooper credited Clements with improving Colorado’s prison system. “[H]e helped change and improve DOC in two years more than most people could do in eight years,” the governor wrote. “He was unfailingly kind and thoughtful, and sought the ‘good’ in any situation.”

Clements was 58. He is survived by his wife and two children.

Francis Schaeffer Cox: Guilty in murder plot against public officials.

On Feb. 27, the PP Blog reported that a website registered in the name of purported JSS Tripler/JustBeenPaid operator Frederick Mann was publishing links to at least 11 videos featuring Francis Schaeffer Cox, an Alaska man implicated in an alleged “militia” murder plot against public officials.

These were among the remarks attributed to Mann  at BuildFreedom.com — as a drop-down ad for JSS/JBB was displayed on the page.

“To what extent do the people and activities featured so far on this page provide real solutions? How far do they go toward neutralizing the real enemies? What activities need to be added to increase the prospects for freedom?”

The PP Blog almost immediately began to receive threats from “MoneyMakingBrain,” a Mann “defender.”

JSS/JBP purports to provide an investment return of 2 percent a day. It has no known securities registrations. In May, Mann said that government employees were “much worse than the Mafia.”

Government workers, Mann intoned in May, were “part of a criminal gang of robbers, thieves, murderers, liars, imposters.” He also speculated that the web servers of JSS/JBP could be targeted in a “cruise missile” attack.

Cox was convicted yesterday after a jury trial on a charge of conspiracy to commit murder. So, too, was Cox associate Lonnie Vernon.
